In 2004, Bloomfield Discount Liquors partnered up with The Century Council to promote the 65% Campaign, a program based on survey data stating that 65% of youth obtain the alcohol they drink from their family and friends. Reflecting on the experience, Leon noted that customers were very appreciative of the information and the concern Bloomfield showed as a retailer. Leon went onto say that he felt the program planted a seed in parents to keep a close watch on the beverage alcohol they keep in their homes. In addition to participation in the 65% Campaign, all of Leon’s stores work with local police to monitor how employees check IDs, ensure that employees are constantly reminded to check IDs and use age statement forms for any person with questionable identification.
