Donut Wheel, Inc. Arizona Liquor Dan’s deep commitment to responsibility stems from the belief that its business is an integral part of the “inseparable interweaving fabric of the community.” Owner Nil Kay believes that operating Liquor Dan in a responsible manner is essential to the well-being and safety of not only the community, but Liquor Dan employees as well. Liquor Dan trains and involves all personnel – from the janitors to the store managers – in the goal of responsibility and the pride they take in this endeavor. It was this deep commitment to responsibility that led to Liquor Dan’s involvement in The Century Council’s 65% Campaign, a program based on survey data stating that 65% of youth obtain the alcohol they drink from their family and friends. Kay believes in the effectiveness of the 65% Campaign, noting that regardless of the efforts of retailers until “parents and families accept their roles and responsibility in educating, mentoring and taking active role in preventing their teens from having access to alcohol” the problem of underage drinking will persist.
